Workshop within the STAND project for capacity building of management staff through SMEs

In the framework of the STAND Project, a workshop was held on the adaptation of good practices in the leadership of universities. The workshop covered four aspects of the discussion, such as the organizational, financial, academic and personnel dimensions. This meeting was attended by representatives of the Public University “Kadri Zeka” in Gjilan by the management, Vice Rector for Teaching, Scientific Research and Student Affairs Prof. Assoc. Dr. Xhevdet Thaqi, Vice Rector for Budget and Finance, Prof. Ass. Dr. Bajram Fejzullahu and other professors and assistants and administrative staff who had an interest in attending the workshop. The special feature of this workshop is the arrival of other stakeholders, especially the representative from the University of National and World Economy-UNWE from Sofia, Bulgaria, Prof.Dr. Diana Kopeva, Dr. Ari Arutyunian and Dr, Illya Kereziev. During the meeting, the Vice-Rectors informed the UNWE representatives about the activities, learning process and achievements at UKZ, while the guests also presented a summary of the development process of Sofia University in Bulgaria, as well as assisted the workshop with good leadership practices. of this university and university autonomy in Bulgaria.

In addition to the staff of the Public University “Kadri Zeka” in Gjilan, the meeting was attended by representatives from the Institution of the Municipality of Gjilan, Burim Elezi from the office for European Integration in the Municipality, Betim Latifi from the Board of Local Public Enterprises in the Municipality, also participants were representatives from companies or private businesses, Festa Hajdari from the National Commercial Bank, Asdren Toska from Toska LLC, Refik Ramadani from LED Com, who contributed with their roundtable discussions.

After this workshop was held a round table in which was discussed about Small and Medium Enterprises-SMEs activity within the STAND project where the aim of the project is financial autonomy in public and private universities, where as a result small businesses and mediums can provide special help and support in this regard. In this regard and during the discussions, the UNWE representatives from Sofia, Bulgaria, presented the experiences of Small and Medium Enterprises in the country where they live. Other participants also discussed mainly about SMEs in Kosovo, their problems and perspectives, where it was said that SMEs are the backbone of Kosovo’s economy which can support Universities and HEIs in advancing, employing and financing the activities of different.

According to the participants, Small and Medium Enterprises-SMEs play an important role in the economic development of the country, because according to them they are the source of job creation.
